The graphic below shows a 25-year chart comparing Lumber Prices with US Housing Starts. You can easily see we were at as high or higher rates of home building in the early-2000s with prices being nowhere near where we are today.

Also interesting to note that lumber futures which peaked at $1,701 a week ago have now fallen for 7 straight days to $1200
